Simon Slater-Thomas, 48, CEO

Slater-Thomas has a gift for spotting and exploiting opportunities in the telecoms market.  He was the first person in the UK to work on GSM whilst at Cellnet (now O2), and was part of the team that introduced SMS.  He joined Mercury one2one (now T-Mobile) before launch where he developed the UK’s first pay-as-you-go service. In 1994 he founded Redstone Communications, which in 1999 was the first company to float on techMARK with a peak market valuation of over £1 billion.

When not piloting business technologies towards commercial success, Slater Thomas can be found navigating private planes, having gained his private pilot’s license in early 2006
